These online plant-based Food for Life classes consists of cooking demonstrations and nutritional information based on non-industry funded, peer reviewed scientific research. Attendees then have the opportunity to take the recipes and recreate them in their own kitchen to complete the hands on experience part of the class.
Research shows that cancer, diabetes, heart disease, stroke and obesity respond to eating a healthy whole-foods, plant-based diet. The Food for Life classes presents these healthy food choices that these diseases respond to and empower people to take control and improve their health and vitality.
The Food for Life classes started in 2001 and are sponsored by the non-profit organization PCRM (Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine), located in Washington D.C. established in 1985 by Dr. Neal Barnard, a world renowned and respected physician, author and clinical researcher.

Position Statement on appropriately planned plant based diets from The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formally the ADA - American Dietetic Association) - The world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals:
"It is the position of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that appropriately planned vegetarian, including vegan, diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. These diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, older adulthood, and for athletes. Plant-based diets are more environmentally sustainable than diets rich in animal products because they use fewer natural resources and are associated with much less environmental damage."
